We are seeking a
full-time Patrol Officer to join our Public Safety team downtown Milwaukee, WI. As a Patrol Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the MSOE campus remains a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and faculty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Primary responsibilities include proactively patrolling campus buildings and property and responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls from the MSOE community and the public for assistance.

Pay:

$27.50/hour

Schedule
  • Friday to Tuesday, 4:00pm to 12:00am // Off days Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as assigned
  • Training schedule may vary slightly

Summary of duties for a Patrol Officer
  • Respond to all emergency and non-emergency calls from the MSOE community and the public requesting assistance and/or police, fire, medical or other emergency services
  • Determine the nature and location of the emergency, determine priorities, and direct Public Safety Patrol Officers or other emergency personnel as necessary in accordance with established procedures
  • Enforce and comply with all University rules and regulations
  • Good verbal and written communications skills, including clear and concise speech
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • Must maintain all required licenses and permits
  • Must successfully complete all initial and ongoing required training
  • Must wear department-issued body armor, duty belt and all department-issued equipment while on duty

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cover Public Safety Communications Officers and Public Safety University Service Officer shifts and breaks as needed
  • Assist Director of Public Safety with creating department schedules
  • Public Safety department vehicle maintenance
  • Check fire extinguishers and panic alarms on campus
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous Public Safety / Patrol Officer / Security experience required
  • Previous firearms experience preferred
  • Previous Defense and Arrest Tactics (DAAT) preferred
