The Door and Door Hardware Technician position is an integral part of The Flying Locksmiths Milwaukee. All Door and Door Hardware must have the ability to work well in a high‑paced working environment. The individual must work well as part of the team and independently. The Door and Door Hardware position is a hands‑on technical position geared toward an individual who has a technical mindset.

Ideal candidates will have locksmith knowledge and demonstrate the ability to learn new technical methods and techniques.

• Perform emergency work orders for commercial clients only.
• Install, repair, and maintain commercial and residential doors and door hardware.
• Install, repair, and maintain doors, door frames, and door hardware.
• Install automatic sliding doors and swing doors.
• Install metal, wood, and glass doors.
• Diagnose malfunctioning doors, frames, and hardware.
• Interpret blueprints and diagrams for installation.
• Read and follow written, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions.
• Troubleshoot a variety of variables in different situations.
• Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service equipment used.
• Read operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information effectively to customers and commercial clients.
• Perform basic arithmetic calculations with all units of measure.

• Receive verbal instructions from management or clients/customers.
• Perform projects as directed by management.
• Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time.

• Minimum of 2 years of technical, hands‑on field experience in door installation, automatic doors, door hardware, and other skilled trades.
• Good relationship‑building skills with a diverse population, including all customers’ partners, technicians, and other company employees.
• Good verbal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple functions at the same time.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Capability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work safely on ladders.
• Ability to drive in compliance with company vehicle policy.
• Provide a high level of timely and accurate customer service.
• Communicate effectively with clients to determine service needs.
• Respond to general inquiries from customers and clients.

• Must be fluently able to understand, speak, and write English.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must be able to kneel, crouch, and stoop.
• Must be able to reach above and below the shoulders.
• Must be able to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull.
• Must be able to climb a ladder and work above ground.
• Must be able to withstand external weather conditions year‑round.
