Overview
Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking a forward‑thinking HVAC mechanic apprentice to join our growing organization. The role focuses on servicing mechanical HVAC systems, working with controls, and collaborating with contractors and customers on site.
Responsibilities- Provide the highest level of service to customers, troubleshooting HVAC mechanical equipment and controls.
- Perform tasks on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites, as trained through Service Technical Academy.
- Keep JCI, contractors, and customers advised of job progress and any issues.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Generate quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Meet attendance requirements for required Union training during the first year.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
- 1+ year of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal and ethical communication skills.
- Leadership ability to support mechanics on non‑complex HVAC equipment.
- Self‑starter capable of working independently eventually; prioritizes safety.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: 1–2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.
Pay Rate: $22.75 hourly, determined by the CBA/Rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. This is a bargaining‑unit position subject to standard pre‑hiring screening. Successful performance may lead to recommendation to the Union Local apprenticeship program and continued employment eptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or the position will be terminated.
