Installation Technician, Electrician/ Electrician Installation
Responsibilities
Perform installation and checkout on a variety of electrical controls systems, using codes, company procedures, engineering drawings, and personal analysis.
Work with "Prime" electrical contractors as required and serve as a positive interface with customers to ensure confidence and satisfaction with the system installation.
Provide work direction to other employees involved in electrical installation activities, including laying out controls installation, mounting and terminating controls equipment, and determining and validating final termination points to equipment such as chillers, boilers, and rooftop units.
Assist sales with electrical estimates, including walkthroughs of retrofit projects.
Check out wiring and terminations of field‑installed equipment with test instruments as needed (e.g., volt meters, handheld testers). Keep management informed of job needs, progress, and issues.
Complete paperwork, including time sheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation; provide feedback to JCI Engineering on changes and keep as‑built drawings current.
Resolve job‑site conflicts regarding installation issues or, if required, escalates concerns to management. Communicate with the customer as necessary upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
Adhere to Johnson Controls safety programs and policies, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Required:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of suggested minimum experience, or a 2‑year degree and 8 years of suggested minimum experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Electrical apprenticeship or formal training in electrical installation techniques; possessor and maintain a journeyman’s level electrical license.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret drawings; knowledge of local codes as it applies to controls.
- Experience in scope determination of installation materials; able to work independently.
- Leadership skills to support and direct the activities of electricians working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Preferred:
Eight years’ experience directly with controls installations; knowledge of HVAC controls systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
- Hir ing salary range: $32.64 – $36.00 (Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market data).
