DescriptionAs our Technician, you will provide exceptional customer service by working on material handling equipment at the customer’s location or within our branch shop. This position requires mechanical repairs ensuring equipment is running at full performance, providing customers with effective and efficient equipment. Recent graduates from technical schools with education in automotive and/or diesel repair are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all material handling equipment for customer work orders assigned to you.
- Accept repair orders as assigned by Service Writer.
- Communicate with customer(s) on diagnosed repairs suggested or required for repair and obtain customer approvals.
- Read work orders, observe, and listen to trucks in operation to determine/diagnose malfunctions or problems.
- Offer solutions to meet customer specifications.
- Submit work orders timely.
- Provide estimates when appropriate.
- Repair, service, recondition or assemble equipment as approved by the customer/Service Manager.
- Obtain necessary parts by working cooperatively with Parts department staff.
- Make mechanical repairs to equipment after a complete inspection and analysis of the breakdown has been completed.
- Record complete repair description on work order, including correct model and serial number of equipment, and record hour meter reading.
- Obtain signature from customer and communicate with them on repair needs or work that was completed.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, specified safety devices on trucks and make adjustments.
- Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
- Maintain a professional image of self, cleanliness of van (externally and internally) and of assigned work area at customer site.
- Maintain and operate shop equipment and tools.
- Notify Service Manager or Supervisor of safety issues and/or accidents immediately.
- Perform quality work as quickly and professionally as possible.
- Promote marketing efforts to drive parts, service, equipment, and rental sales.
- Complete service forms and submit directly to Service department daily via work tablet.

Skills and Abilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record; CDL may be required.
- Experience in forklift repair is desired, intermediate maintenance experience is required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of an organization.
- Ability to work under little or no supervision.
- Must be able to provide own tools for the job immediately; an annual tool incentive is given.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- 3+ years of mechanic experience and/or education related to the position.
- Basic knowledge of computer and internet software.
