Controls Electrical Installer

What you will do

Perform installation and checkout on a variety of systems utilizing codes, company procedures, engineering drawings, and personal analysis.

Work with "Prime" electrical contractors as required.

Develop a positive interface with the customer to ensure confidence and satisfaction with the system installation.

Provide work direction to other employees involved in electrical installation activities.

• Install raceways, cables, and wiring to meet local or national codes, standards, and customer system requirements; lay out electrical controls installations to provide lowest total installed cost.
• Mount and terminate controls equipment as needed.
• Mentor and assist others as the local expert regarding electrical installation practices, requirements, and cost estimates.
• Assist sales with electrical estimates, including walking retrofit projects.
• Determine and validate final termination points to equipment interfaced with the installed system (e.g., chillers, boilers, rooftop units).
• Check out wiring and terminations of field‑installed equipment with test instruments as needed (e.g., voltmeters, handheld testers).
• Keep management informed of job needs, progress, and issues.
• Provide work direction to other employees involved in electrical installation.
• Complete paperwork, including timesheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation. Provide feedback to JCI Engineering on changes and keep as‑built drawings current.
• Resolve job‑site conflicts regarding installation issues or elevate concerns to management as required.
• Communicate with the customer as necessary upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
• Adhere to Johnson Controls safety programs and policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of suggested minimum experience, or a 2‑year degree and 8 years of suggested minimum experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Electrical apprenticeship or formal training in electrical installation techniques.
• Possess and maintain a journeyman level electrical license.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Working knowledge of local codes as it applies to controls.
• Experience in scope determination of installation materials. Able to work independently.
• Leadership skills to support and direct the activities of electricians working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred

• Eight years’ experience directly with controls installations.
• Generally required knowledge includes HVAC controls systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.

Hiring salary range: $32.64‑$36.00. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skills, and market data. The role includes a competitive bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance.
