Field Service Tech – Milwaukee, WI

Travel is 80-90% weekly and constant, generally home on weekends.

Position Summary

Contribute to installing equipment, investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminate future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment and perform routine repairs.
  • Partner with customers to ensure excellent communication and service.
  • Ensure all new or modified installations of equipment are completed to full functionality according to industry standards, company standards, and customer specifications.
  • Review performance reports and documentation from customers and inspect malfunctioning or damaged equipment to determine nature and scope of problem.
  • Analyze inspection reports to determine source of problems and make recommendations for repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Coordinate problem resolutions with Field Service, Engineering, and other inter‑company departments to expedite repairs.
  • Maintain records of reports. Submit reports to the Field Service Manager and the Quality Department.
  • Troubleshoot, dismantle, and reassemble machines, equipment, and their subassemblies according to customers' needs following drawings and written or verbal specifications; plan assembly procedures based on specifications and experience.
  • Drill, tap, or ream holes, align components, and bolt, screw, or rivet them together using hand tools or portable power tools; install moving parts such as shafts, levers, fan blades, bearings, and test free movement; bend and install pipe for lubricating systems.
  • Align and mesh gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears including drive motors and fan shaft alignment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance at customer facilities.
  • Maintain regular attendance, arrive punctually, and be able to work on‑site, including overtime when required.
  • Work cooperatively with others and treat the public, customers, vendors, employees, managers, and executive management with respect.
  • Perform multiple tasks concurrently and work in a fast‑paced environment; interchange with others in the department.
  • Work at heights exceeding 50 feet and operate various mobile elevating work platforms.
  • Strictly adhere to Kelvion and customer safety requirements – e.g., use personal protective equipment, complete job safety analysis, and complete necessary paperwork and reporting.
  • All other duties assigned.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Personal computer skills including email, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and basic graphics.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Intermediate level: calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry.
  • Intermediate level: apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Obtain a passport and a major credit card (for car rental) and pass safety orientation exams at customer locations.
  • Obtain industry‑required certifications such as TWIC for entry access to customer locations.
  • Travel at least 70% of the time.
Education and Experience (required levels)
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; and/or two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands, arms, and shoulders. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee occasionally will be required to hand‑lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
