General Engineering Company (GEC) is hiring a part-time, seasonal Cross Connection Control Inspector to help support municipal water safety efforts across Wisconsin.
This position involves field inspections of commercial, industrial, and publicly owned properties to identify actual or potential cross connections in plumbing systems.
The role is perfect for a semi-retired plumber, tradesperson, or anyone looking for flexible, impactful part-time work in warmer months.
Ideal Qualifications- Experience in plumbing or building inspection preferred but not required
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred but not required
- Familiarity with cross connection control or backflow testing is a strong plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Tech-savvy enough to complete electronic documentation and reports
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Strong, positive communication skills with clients are necessary
- Inspect plumbing systems for cross connections and potential backflow concerns
- Conduct site visits at facilities throughout various Wisconsin communities
- Accurately document findings using provided software or forms
- Educate customers and property owners on cross connection control requirements
- Ensure compliance with WI Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and SPS 382.41 regulations
- Coordinate your own inspection schedule with program coordinator
