Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings requiring practical knowledge and skill in painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain facilities and equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and perform scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills, including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Mow lawns, clear driveways and sidewalks of snow, and use appropriate material to safeguard against slipping on ice.
  • Coordinate these activities with student workers.
  • Provide technical support to other maintenance personnel.
  • Perform daily inspection of buildings and student work to identify safety needs.
Requirements
  • Three years of maintenance experience required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) required.
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred.

Demonstrates expertise in general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, including skills in plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. Proficient in performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and using various hand and power tools while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
