New hires are typically brought into the organization between $29.56 - $37.69/hour, based on experience and education. Location & Schedule

Denver Parks & Recreation Maintenance Facility, 4495 Jason St. Denver, CO 80211. This position currently offers a 9/80 Flex work schedule (may include some nights and weekends as needed). Monday-Thursday 6:00am-3:30pm, Friday 6:00am-2:30pm (44 hours). Monday-Thursday 6:00am-3:30pm, Friday off (36 hours)

Join the City you love and put your skills to work in a rewarding public sector role! Specifically, as an HVAC Mechanic I you will:

  • Diagnose, repair, and replace HVAC systems and components according to manufacturer guidelines and code requirements
  • Maintain and service equipment such as refrigerant compressors, air handling units, boilers, water heaters, pumps, rooftop units, variable air volume units, pool dehumidification units, and temperature controls
  • Repair or replace electrical components including variable frequency drives, circuit boards, relays, transformers, and ignition systems
  • Install, calibrate, and repair pneumatic and digital controllers, sensors, actuators, thermostats, and relays
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) and maintain electric and pneumatic controls
  • Replace and rebuild motors, belts, pulleys, bearings, and pumps, balance air distribution systems
  • Prepare work plans using blueprints and schematics; maintain records and estimate materials and labor
  • Respond to HVAC service requests, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and assist with emergency repairs
  • Coordinate work with other trades and monitor contractor performance
  • Serve Parks & Recreation facilities with occasional after-hours calls; provide routine service, preventive maintenance, and emergency support
  • Participate in snow removal duties
  • Perform project lead work
What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for dependable, self-motivated professionals who take pride in their work and can operate independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse team to achieve department goals. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

  • Trade school/apprenticeship completion and 5+ years of HVAC experience
  • Expertise in HVAC preventive maintenance, repairs, and project work
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Controls
  • Skilled in rooftop heating/cooling units and heat pump installation/service
  • Pipe fitting knowledge (leak repairs, valves, seals, etc.) preferred
  • Proficient with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to adapt to new systems
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to assist where needed
  • Ability to obtain HVAC certification within six month probationary period (Heating & Ventilating Journeyman, Refrigeration Journeyman, or Steamfitter Journeyman)
Required

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

Experience:

One (1) year of journey-level HVAC experience maintaining, repairing, and constructing HVAC systems and equipment

Licensures/Certification(s):
