Maintenance Mechanic
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of machinery and equipment in a fabrication and foundry environment. This role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. The Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring completion of customer orders in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Maintain machinery like lathes, CNC machines, welding units, shears, and presses.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Maintain conveyors and pouring systems.
- Service air filtration and ventilation systems to manage hazardous dust and fumes.
- Ensure proper operation of exhaust fans and dust collectors.
- Maintain pneumatic tools.
- Conduct regular checks on safety systems like heat shields, temperature sensors, and cooling systems.
- Maintain forklifts, hoists, and conveyors used for transporting raw materials and finished products.
- Replace worn-out parts such as bearings, belts, or motors.
- Respond quickly to equipment malfunctions to minimize production downtime.
- Optimize machine settings for better output and efficiency.
- Ensure machines meet safety standards and that guards, locks, and emergency systems function correctly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding mechanical components like gears, belts, bearings, and shafts.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and repair of equipment such as CNC machines, cranes, induction furnaces, hydraulic presses, and pneumatic tools.
- Experience troubleshooting and fixing welding equipment.
- Knowledge of basic electrical wiring, circuit diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
- Awareness of OSHA regulations for workplace safety.
- Hazard awareness in high-temperature environments (for foundries) and moving machinery (in fabrication shops).
- Knowledge of principles of equipment inspection, lubrication, and wear detection.
- Ability to fabricate or modify parts using cutting, welding, and machining techniques.
- Skill in aligning, calibrating, and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Strong attention to detail – Recognizing early signs of wear, misalignment, or malfunction to prevent major breakdowns.
- Ability to resolve complex mechanical issues.
- Skilled at prioritizing tasks and managing time to minimize equipment downtime.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a technical training program in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years' experience in a mechanical maintenance role, particularly in an industrial, manufacturing, fabrication, or foundry environment.
