Electromechanical Technician

Charter Wire, a family-owned steel manufacturer in Milwaukee, seeks an Electromechanical Technician to support Engineering & Maintenance. In this hands-on role, you'll install, troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled production equipment to keep our cold-rolled steel operations running safely and efficiently. You'll perform preventive maintenance, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects while collaborating with engineering, production, and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production equipment
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues on PLC-controlled machinery
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and schematic drawings
• Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects
• Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate equipment records
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve reliability
• Follow all safety procedures and support a strong safety culture
• Assist with root-cause analysis of recurring equipment failures
• Participate in on-call or off-shift support as needed
