Description

Reporting to the Manager of the Student Resource Center, the Social Worker will support the mission of student retention and completion and assist students with issues that impact their well‑being and their overall academic success. The Social Worker will be part of a team that assists students in obtaining non‑academic resources that strengthen their daily lives and student experiences. They connect students with campus and community resources that address social, economic, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

They offer support to students coping with problems and investigate possible solutions to issues such as food insecurity, housing issues, financial well‑being, and family crises. They serve as a resource to faculty and staff by informing the campus community of various resources for students. The Social Worker works in collaboration with campus and statewide stakeholders, identifying resources, following up on needs, and assisting students to persist to graduation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in connecting students with campus and community resources that help resolve social, economic, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Provide ongoing support to students with issues related to food insecurity, housing, financial well‑being, and family crises.
  • Communicate, coordinate, refer, and track services for students who utilize the Student Community Resource Center (SCRC). May facilitate workshops and assist with campus events that promote well‑being and other SCRC opportunities. Serve as an SCRC resource to the College’s faculty and staff by informing the campus community of various resources.
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of Social Work initiatives. Contribute to strategic planning initiatives in alignment with institutional goals and support departmental processes and presentations. Partner with the SCRC on college‑wide priority initiatives and duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the development of program materials for distribution and campus‑wide communication. Provide input on program design for the student audience and for the SCRC department. Communicate program activities to multiple audiences in collaboration with institutional stakeholders.
  • Collect and maintain databases and files related to the student community. Track and monitor key performance indicators to assess and evaluate program effectiveness. Suggest recommendations for improvement to enhance the student experience and well‑being.
  • Coordinate and manage community‑based activities, acting as a liaison with community organizations. Participate on appropriate external committees relevant to the advancement of student success. May chair internal cross‑functional committees and organize regular status reviews and debrief meetings among stakeholders.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and standards in social work for diverse populations. Participate in personal and professional development to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities related to equity and inclusion practices.
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operations of the division and to support institutional objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of current social work practices, procedures, and trends.
  • Sensitivity and awareness of individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. Open, objective, and will seek to understand issues from multiple perspectives. Innovative in developing options that are responsive to differing needs.
  • Knowledge of the College’s structure, culture, policies, and practices. Excellent networking skills, understand and participate in collaboration with others, and be able to establish and maintain broad contacts throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute tasks in a reactive environment.
  • Ability to keep records, to assemble and organize data, and prepare reports from such records.
