Social Work Field Liaison
The Field Liaison position is a non-classified teaching position in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare Social Work Program at UW-Milwaukee. The Field Education Program provides students with direct social work practice experience in the multi-cultural community of Milwaukee, and surrounding communities. The Liaison serves as a link between undergraduate and graduate social work students and field placement agencies. Milwaukee is a city rich with diversity and most of the field agencies located within the city offer excellent opportunities to serve at-risk individuals, families and groups who possess unique strengths while experiencing a variety of human needs.
The Field Education Program has an emphasis on the development of professional social work competencies and practice behaviors including: professional identity; ethical practice; diversity and difference; social, economic and environmental justice; practice-informed research and research-informed practice; policy practice; and social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities.
Liaison responsibilities include the development and maintenance of agency practicum sites, training of and linkage with Field Instructors; placement and oversight of students in their field education practicum; instructional responsibility for integrated field seminars, student and Field Instructor orientations and trainings; and contribution toward ongoing Field Program development. This position will be focused on the development of agency placements outside of southeastern Wisconsin.
The Liaison must have the capacity to assist in the education and professional development of a diverse group.
$60,000-$70,000 annually, actual hiring salary based on qualifications related to the position
Required Qualifications:- Applicants must be a Licensed Clinical or Advanced Practice Social Worker with at least five years post-MSW social work experience.
- Applicants must have an aptitude and demonstrated experience using advanced technologies with efficiency including course management sites, multiple databases, Office 365, Microsoft Office, and web-based navigation systems and video conferencing
- Experience as a social work field instructor, and experience as an instructor in higher education or professional continuing education training.
- Organized, flexible with good time management and problem-solving skills.
- Have experience with professional collaborations and have knowledge of the social service community in Wisconsin.
- LCSW and leadership/supervisory experience.
- Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to multi-task (as evidenced by application materials).
- Experience with internship placement software (ie Sonia, Tevera, Exxat Prism)
