The Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator is part of the Health Promotion, Prevention, and Advocacy unit and reports to the Assistant Director of Prevention and Advocacy. This role serves as the campus’ primary victim advocate and provides oversight of direct support for students who experience various forms of sexual misconduct. The Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator will assist with campus prevention initiatives including resource development, education, awareness raising, collaboration, and programming related to sexual misconduct.
This role will provide advocacy and outreach that is aligned with diverse cultural, identity, and spiritual needs. The employee in this role is expected to undertake all responsibilities in a manner that reflects the Catholic, Jesuit Mission of the university, as well as a holistic framework that centers cura personalis or care for the whole person. This role requires a flexible work schedule with on-call and weekend duties anticipated following incidents of sexual misconduct and periodic training/outreach.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a confidential advocate for students affected by various forms of sexual misconduct, including stalking, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault; determine individual student needs which may include crisis management; inform students about campus and community resources; provide referrals to community hospitals and agencies; direct victims to appropriate reporting agencies and sometimes accompany them.
