Who We’re Looking For:

Our client located in the Madison, WI area is looking for a .NET Developer to join their team on a long-term contract basis. This role will work onsite in Madison, WI in a hybrid model. CANDIDATES MUST CURRENTLY LIVE IN WISCONSIN TO BE CONSIDERED.

We’re seeking a skilled .NET Web Developer II to support a major modernization effort for a large‑scale case management system. This role will join a collaborative core team made up of internal IT staff and contractors, working to refactor and enhance backend and middleware components while maintaining a thin‑client application. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned full‑stack developer who thrives in complex, enterprise‑level environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in refactoring and modernizing the PROTECT case management system.
  • Shift processing logic from the client to backend and middleware layers.
  • Work closely with members of the DAIT team and other IT contractors as part of the core development group.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services, APIs, and middleware components.
  • Support efforts around migrating legacy functionality and improving system architecture.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • 6+ years of proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong emphasis on backend development.
  • Expertise in .NET technologies
    , including ASP.NET, C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and related frameworks.
  • 6+ years of experience with relational database technologies such as SQL Server
    , including hybrid on‑prem/cloud environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with server‑side event‑driven programming and event handlers.
  • Experience developing and supporting APIs such as SOAP and REST, as well as stored procedures, batch processing, and queue‑based workloads.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Azure SQL
    .
  • Familiarity with Component One/Mescius Win/Web Forms Controls
    .
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications and working within older codebases.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be a current Wisconsin resident
    .
  • Work is 100% remote within Wisconsin
    .
  • Interview process includes a Teams video interview with camera required.

Codeworks discloses that the anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $33.00 and $49.00. This range is subject to change based on job‑related factors, including client requirements where applicable. All full‑time Codeworks employees are eligible to enroll in the company’s medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
