Job DescriptionAs Engineering Team Lead, Product Security, you will lead and manage the Product Software Security team. This team is responsible for security architecture, secure development practices, compliance, and product hardening across the Automation Control Software (ACS) product portfolio. In this role, you combine people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery accountability to ensure products are secure, compliant, and built with security‑by‑design principles.
You will be accountable for execution, team health, and, while remaining hands‑on, guide technical decisions and support complex security challenges. You will directly and indirectly lead a multidisciplinary team that includes software engineers, security specialists, and supporting roles. You will partner closely with product, architecture, quality, Dev Sec Ops , and program leadership to embed security into the full product lifecycle while enabling efficient delivery.
You will report to Engineering Manager and will work hybrid in Mayfield Heights, OH or Milwaukee, WI.
- Lead the integration of Rockwell Automation's security methodology and process into software development
- Lead in identifying and recommending software development capability improvements in security, software development practices, and development tools
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team to achieve product security and organizational goals
- Lead the teams during threat modeling exercises
- Contribute to the education of peers on security issues and best practices
- Contribute to the evolution of security standards for software development
- Set clear goals, give feedback, and conduct performance reviews
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth‑oriented environment
- Support career development and provide mentorship to team members
- Contribute directly to the design, development, and delivery of product security solutions, serving as a hands‑on technical leader
- Guide architectural decisions related to product security, secure design, threat mitigation, and compliance
- Oversee day‑to‑day project work, ensuring alignment with scope, requirements, and timelines
- Coordinate resources, plan work assignments, and manage workload prioritization
- Track progress, anticipate issues, and resolve delivery obstacles
- Work with product managers, designers, QA, architects, and operations teams to align on deliverables
- Communicate updates, challenges, and decisions clearly to stakeholders
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience
- Legal authorization to work in the US; no sponsorship for employment visas
- Typically requires a minimum of 2 years management experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- A minimum of 6+ years of experience in software development with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality software
- Direct experience leading or contributing to cloud software development
- Experience developing software using Agile Scrum/SAFe
- Experience building team and culture, people development
- Experience balancing hands‑on technical contribution with people and delivery leadership
- Experience working with or leading product security, secure development, or compliance‑driven plans
- Exposure to security standards, frameworks, or certifications (e.g., secure development practices, compliance programs, or product hardening concepts)
