Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Embedded Computer Vision Firmware Engineer (Micro Python / OpenMV)

True Putt LLC is building the GR-1 Pro™ (patents pending), a electronic greens-reading device for golf. The device helps golfers read putts using computer vision, slope sensing, and audio guidance. We're hiring a contractor to develop the on-device computer vision algorithms. You'll write CV modules that run in Micro Python on an OpenMV AE3 — no desktop, no GPU. Your work integrates with a firmware contractor who owns the platform.

Detailed technical scope is shared after NDA.

What you’ll do
  • Ball tracking on a global-shutter camera
  • Detection and tracking of the golfer’s putter during the stroke
  • Derive angular measurements from motion vectors
  • Build directional calculation logic from fused IMU + ToF inputs
  • Prototype algorithms offline against recorded footage during the platform bring‑up phase, then integrate for on‑device execution
  • Design to a strict runtime budget — the Technical Lead will enforce memory and latency constraints against the Micro Python target
  • Own the algorithm validation gates; joint gate execution with the Technical Lead where hardware and CV work meet
What we’re looking for
  • Strong Python fluency (Micro Python is the deployment target; offline prototyping is in standard Python)
  • 3+ years of computer vision experience with shipped products
  • Embedded or constrained‑device CV — you’ve actually deployed algorithms outside a desktop or GPU environment
  • OpenCV or equivalent (PIL, scikit‑image, Micro Python sensor module)
  • Classical CV techniques: blob detection, ROI cropping, frame‑to‑frame tracking, colour and contrast thresholding, simple Kalman or alpha‑beta filtering
  • Comfortable optimizing for frame rate, memory footprint, and end‑to‑end latency on a real MCU
  • Milwaukee metropolitan area — hybrid is fine.
  • Greater Seattle area remote possible for strong candidate.
Bonus
  • Prior Micro Python deployment on a constrained MCU
  • Sports analytics, motion capture, or high‑frame‑rate camera work
  • Sensor fusion experience (IMU + camera, ToF + camera)
  • 8–12 weeks, part‑time (~10–15 hrs/week)
  • Paired with an embedded firmware contractor who serves as Technical Lead and owns platform integration
  • Hourly rate discussed individually
  • Strong potential to continue into a Phase 2 field prototype engagement (~12–16 additional weeks), which materially expands the CV scope
To apply

Send a resume, a short paragraph describing relevant projects you’ve shipped, with links to any public code or write‑ups. If you’ve deployed CV on a constrained device, lead with that. Confirm your Milwaukee‑area location and general availability over the next 3 months.
