Adult Sports Field Attendant

Job Summary

The Adult Sports Field Attendant staff are responsible for daily operations at assigned outdoor locations. Field Attendant staff assist the Sports Office with facility issue, officials, and troubleshooting/ensuring the safety of all participants.

• Supervise and monitor operations by walking, communicating with patrons, and remaining visible and approachable.
• Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules, and City of Milwaukee ordinances.
• Effectively communicate with field attendants, officials, and patrons.
• Assist/Mentor new and veteran staff.
• Open and secure restrooms, baseboxes, light boxes, and other equipment.
• Ensure restrooms are open and clean along with all other needed equipment.
• Ability to be proactive and see potential hazards before safety is compromised.
• Complete all required paperwork/reports accurately and on a timely basis.
• Ensure assigned locations have all of the necessary equipment and supplies.
• Exhibit professionalism in demeanor, attitude, and dress at all times.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Reports to the Recreation Supervisor of Adult Sports

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to meet the scheduling needs for this position.
• Able to attend mandatory in-service meetings and trainings.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Experience working in a public setting that involves diverse groups of people.

• Energetic team player willing to take pride in position and ownership over responsibilities.
• Desire to learn new skills applicable to position.
• Ability to exercise conflict management skills and effectively communicate with patrons and staff.
• Ability to foster positive working relationships.
• Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to participate interactively with a diverse group of individuals.
