In this position, you will report to the Central Platte Campus (1271 W. Bayaud Ave., Bldg. #2, Denver, CO 80223) at the beginning and end of each shift. During the day, you will work in the field throughout the City and County of Denver as needed.

Street Maintenance, a division within the City and County of Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, is responsible for keeping Denver’s streets and alleys safe, clean, and reliable year-round. The division oversees a wide range of essential services, including pothole repair, milling, paving, patching, alley maintenance, and citywide street sweeping. It also operates Denver’s asphalt plant, which produces the materials necessary to resurface and maintain the city’s transportation infrastructure.
In addition, Street Maintenance leads Denver’s citywide snow response program, ensuring timely and efficient snow removal to keep roadways accessible during winter weather.
Specifically, as an Equipment Operator III (Asphalt Roller) you will:
- Operates heavy construction Asphalt Rollers in all environments for which the equipment is used
- Performs Pre and Post Trip inspections of equipment to ensure proper working order, which includes checking fluid levels and leaks, condition of hoses and belts, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and other related mechanical components as required by the City and/or the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles
- Assists in the preventive maintenance of equipment such as adding oil, greasing Zerks and joints, changing bulbs, and changing air filters, etc
- Performs general laboring duties for projects to which the equipment is assigned
- Completes daily work reports and paperwork as required
- Observes all safety practices associated with the operation of equipment, and common hand and power tools
- Acts as a lead worker, training, assigning, and overseeing the work of other personnel
- Participates in snow removal duties as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
- Minimum 1 year of basic Asphalt Roller/ Front end loader operation experience
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsement preferred at time of application, must obtain within 6 months of hire
- Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement:
Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. - Experience Requirement:
