Receiving Supervisor – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This is an on-site role supporting a scaling manufacturing client and is ideal for a hands‑on warehouse, receiving, logistics, or LTL supervisor with strong leadership skills and experience managing inbound freight operations.
Position SummaryThe Receiving Supervisor leads receiving operations in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include supervising dockworkers and forklift operators, overseeing inbound freight accuracy, supporting inventory control, enforcing OSHA and company safety standards, and resolving shipping discrepancies, damages, and shortages.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and schedule dockworkers and forklift operators
- Oversee team performance and daily receiving activity
- Conduct shift meetings
- Ensure compliance with workplace policies and company procedures
- Freight Management
- Oversee the unloading, sorting, and staging of all inbound freight
- Verify shipments against bills of lading, purchase orders, and packing slips
- Ensure inbound shipments are received accurately and on time
- Support efficient dock flow and material movement
- Inventory Control
- Partner with inventory control teams to log incoming materials into the warehouse management system
- Ensure receipt entry is accurate and timely
- Route materials to designated storage and production locations
- Support organized warehouse and production material flow
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA standards, safety guidelines, and company protocols on the dock
- Conduct regular equipment checks
- Perform safety audits
- Promote safe forklift, dock, freight, and material handling practices
- Discrepancy Resolution
- Identify and resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately
- Document receiving issues accurately
- Communicate with project managers, purchasing, inventory control, and logistics teams as needed
- Support timely resolution of inbound shipment and freight concerns
- 2 to 4 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse, logistics, or LTL environment
- Experience supporting receiving, dock operations, inbound freight, inventory control, or manufacturing warehouse operations
- High school diploma or GED
- Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics (preferred)
- Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems
- Experience with inventory tracking software
- Experience using RF scanners
- Epicor experience is a plus
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed
