Position Summary
Fosters, directly and indirectly, by action, example and training, a comprehensive safety program throughout the Portland Large Parts Campus. Monitors potential health and safety conditions of the workplace; identifies problems, recommends solutions, and ensures that the on-going safety system is corrected to incorporate the changes.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Develops and audits safety procedures, practices and activities that support business goals and objectives
- Implements, through supervisors and managers, an effective safety performance tracking and measurement system. Collaborates on a scheduled basis with management/departments to interpret the results and effects of the corrective actions
- Support and investigate incidents at multiple sites
- Leads line supervision and safety team members in the development of required revisions to existing procedures, rules and regulations
- Keeps abreast with technical developments and OSHA related regulations that affect the safety considerations for operations. Incorporates new information into existing operations, where applicable
- Leads the review of all incidents. Responsible for effective operations record keeping and OSHA document compliance, and working with Workers Compensation and management to mitigate future incidents
- Serves as an advisor to safety committees at multiple locations
- Consults with Engineering and Maintenance departments on major plans and specifications for new or proposed changes in process, equipment or methods and reviews for compliance with safety standards before acceptance or use
- Collaborates with supervision in the administration of the Light Duty Work Program and in the assignment of eligible employees in accordance with established practices
- Drives safety requirements to Engineering and Maintenance departments regarding outside contractor's safety requirements
- Maintains knowledge of the Corporate Loss Control Program, manuals, rules and regulations and in proper communication of such programs, rules and regulations
- Assists and advises supervisory staff in proper administration of the Corporate Loss Control Program, including, but not limited to:
- Discusses complaints and suggestions received in writing relating to safety conditions with the affected supervision
- By observation of physical conditions and work practices, detects lack of conformity with the Loss Control Program and drives the corrective action with supervision
- Provides technical training on observing unsafe acts to management and supervision and monitors the training effectiveness
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 8-10 years of related and progressively more complex experience.
- Required transportation with a valid Driver's License

- Confined space rescue or supervisor certification

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
