Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including power generation and conversion systems, magnetics, and sensors for extreme environments. Located in Milwaukie, OR (in the Greater Portland Area), this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select aircraft and ground vehicle markets, spanning business jet, narrow body, wide body, and fighter jet platforms as well as military ground vehicles.
We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon, among others.
The Manufacturing Engineer I position provides a range of expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to support and improve the manufacturing capabilities to produce products within the Mags and Sensors Value Stream. Contributes to improving a range of fabrication processes that can directly impact the sustaining and growth efforts of operations. The primary function of this position is to provide engineering support directly to the manufacturing floor.
The individual in this position is responsible for sustainable results versus stated objectives in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Essential Functions:
- Provides significant expertise in developing a range of engineering solutions to improve the manufacture of new and existing Parker Meggitt/OECO products.
- Improves current production processes to manufacture products, using applicable methods and procedures.
- Participates in developing and maintaining documentation for processes and designs, creates and maintains accurate manufacturing outlines, bill of materials, and manufacturing routers.
- Trouble shoot existing manufacturing processes, non-conforming parts, fixtures, tooling, and equipment with a high sense of urgency.
- Design, build, or procure improved fixtures, tooling, and equipment.
- Utilization of learned PLS principles to promote and implement continuous improvement focused on the elimination of waste in all areas, Kaizen leadership.
- Collect root cause data to develop, own, and execute “living” action plans to address top Pareto items adversely affecting performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.
- The ability to interface with design engineering and marketing managers in order to provide low-cost, high-quality products to enable market segment growth.
- Work with Cell Leader and Value Stream associates within area(s) of responsibility to identify opportunities for improvement and drive the execution of countermeasures to address.
- Participate in the design and transfer-to-production process. Advise the design team of profitability and manufacturability issues while identifying the processes to be utilized in producing new products.
