Senior Wireless Systems Specialist; Radio

Looking for a Senior Wireless Systems Specialist (Radio) to support statewide radio communications infrastructure, troubleshoot system failures, lead projects, and mentor team members.

• Diagnose user problems and address complex issues on the mission‑critical statewide Public Safety Wireless system.
• Troubleshoot major failures of statewide voice, data, and microwave radio systems and the multi‑agency dispatch console.
• Lead, assist, and coordinate with other wireless staff in identifying, isolating, and repairing large or complex system problems, restoring communications for OSP, ODOT, and other governmental agencies.
• Support Public Safety Radio System customers and dispatch centers by performing repairs, programming, and providing mobile/portable radio assistance.
• Mentor and assist other wireless technicians.
• Conduct research for large or unusual projects and devise implementation plans involving multiple vendors, jurisdictions, and cross‑agency cooperation.
• Use soldering equipment to replace defective circuit‑board components or modules.
• Install, test, replace, or repair various cable types supporting wireless equipment, including control cables, DC power distribution, multi‑coupler, and wave‑guide systems.
• Plan equipment implementation schedules, create documentation, and coordinate installation teams to complete system documentation distribution.
• Operate Sno‑Cat or UTV in inclement weather to access remote locations for repairs, installations, and emergency restoration.
• Climb and work on towers and antenna structures up to 180feet above ground and work with high voltages.
• Travel region‑wide or statewide in all weather conditions and at all hours; move or lift objects exceeding 70pounds following safety procedures.

• Maximum 60‑minute response time to 8085 Deer Creek Lane, Milwaukie, OR 97222 for emergency call‑outs.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to drive in remote locations and under varying weather conditions.

• Journeyman‑level experience in Land Mobile Radio systems (VHF/UHF repeaters, analog/digital & P25 radio, 700/800MHz trunked radio), terrestrial microwave systems, AC/DC power systems.
• Experience with analog and IP Radio Dispatch Console Systems.
• Proficiency with radio propagation software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and aptitude for dealing with challenging customers.
• Computer literacy and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Familiarity with FCC rules and regulations for public‑service radio.
