Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Join Our Team as a Shop Services Technician - Coolant at Epiroc Primary responsibility is to support manufacturing employees and line management by maintaining coolant systems and related equipment to keep production operating at an optimal level. The role includes routine checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting across all machines, while also providing backup support to maintenance personnel and performing light mechanical work as needed.
Work Type: Onsite at our Milwaukie, OR facility. This position is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship.
Shift Timings: 2nd shift: 3:30 pm to midnight or 3rd shift: 10:30 pm to 7:00 am.
Responsibilities- Take readings of coolant in all machines daily using a refractometer and pH meter.
- Record readings and assess coolant condition; take appropriate actions to remedy issues.
- Maintain coolant coalescer, monitoring concentration and condition.
- Coordinate with manufacturer representatives regarding coolant issues.
- Keep inventory of coolant concentrate and cleaning concentrate.
- Check fire extinguishers monthly and record findings.
- Check fire sprinkler test valves monthly and record findings.
- Recommend job improvements as necessary.
- Replace coolant in approximately four machines per week, cleaning coolant tanks and refilling with new and recycled coolant.
- Maintain the coolant mixing machine.
- Replace various filters on all machines as required.
- Clean aisle‑way mirrors monthly; clean shop floor weekly.
- Check emergency light fittings quarterly and report defects.
- Service mechanical aspects of machine coolant systems (e.g., changing coolant pumps).
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) events as needed.
- Participate in major machine repair projects as needed.
- Operate overhead crane, jib hoist, forklift, and other lifting devices safely; onsite training and certification required before operation.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in a machine shop environment preferred, not required.
- Previous experience with cutting fluids and their makeup preferred, not required.
- Self‑motivated and able to work without supervision.
- Understanding of industrial instrumentation and control.
- Basic mechanical ability to dismantle and reassemble simple assemblies.
- Basic knowledge of chemistry, including concentration, acidity, and alkalinity.
- Capable of consistently lifting 40 lb, working on lift platforms up to 30 ft high, and using ladders up to 35 ft.
Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
