Join Providence Milwaukie Hospital as an Assistant RN Manager and help lead high-quality patient care across multiple clinical areas. Based in Milwaukie, Oregon, this leadership role provides operational and clinical oversight for our 42-bed Medical Surgical Unit, 6-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Float Pool team, and Patient Transport services. Working in partnership with the Nurse Manager, you will support approximately 140 caregivers while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care.

This position offers a flexible Monday through Friday schedule with variable day and evening shift hours. The preferred weekly work schedule will be determined in collaboration with the hiring manager. The ICU serves low- to mid-acuity patients and does not manage patients requiring advanced therapies, providing an opportunity to support a broad range of inpatient services while developing and leading multidisciplinary teams.

This role is also designed as a leadership development opportunity for high-potential nurse leaders who aspire to advance into an RN Manager position in the future. The selected candidate will receive mentorship, increased leadership exposure, and progressive operational responsibilities, creating a strong pathway for growth into a Nurse Manager role while contributing to the continued success of the organization.

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional Registered Nurse reporting to the unit director/manager who utilizes the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within assigned shift. The ANM is responsible for supporting the director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit and providing managerial presence for all shifts. The ANM is responsible for managing clinical and non-clinical caregivers and providing input to the director/manager for evaluation purposes related to performance.

Duties include but not limited to compliance to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements; implementing and monitoring compliance to policies, processes and clinical priorities, coaching, mentoring and collaborating to deliver quality health care to patients.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree:
    Graduate from School of nursing (BS, or BSN). Registered Nurses employed in this role prior to November 1, 2024 are encouraged to pursue the BSN degree but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment.
  • Upon hire:
    Oregon Registered Nurse License
  • Upon hire:
    National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital environment as a RN or higher level position
  • Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Shared Governance experience.
