The EHS Manager will be located onsite in Minden, LA, and reports to the Director of Operations. This role is needed for a PSM and DoD regulated energetic materials and explosives manufacturing operation supporting defense and aerospace customers and is responsible for leading and continuously improving all environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, protect people and assets, and enable safe, reliable operations.
Responsibilities- Lead and continuously improve Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including PHA/HAZOP, MOC, mechanical integrity, incident investigation, and emergency preparedness
- Develop, implement, and sustain environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and management systems for a PSM-regulated explosives operation
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, ATF, DoD, NFPA, and defense contracting requirements) and serve as the primary site contact for EHS related audits and inspections
- Own and manage the EHS budget, including planning, forecasting, and justification of capital and operating expenditures related to safety and compliance initiatives
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement and prevent recurrence
- Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance to integrate safety into daily operations, capital projects, and process changes
- Develop and deliver training programs focused on PSM, explosives safety, and high-risk activities for employees and contractors
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics and lead initiatives to strengthen site safety culture and employee engagement
- Experience with combustible, explosives, or energetic materials manufacturing
- Professional certification, such as CSP, CIH, or equivalent safety credential
