In this role, you will be responsible for the design of custom enclosures for switch gear, UPS, motor controls, power control equipment, and generator sets (gensets) for use in the mission critical power generation, data centers, fiber industry, industrial, and utility markets. You will determine solutions for plant errors and problems that arise in production. The designs include mechanical and electrical systems, fire suppression, power distribution, alarm wiring, environmental control, mechanical layout and structural design.
The Project Engineer will assist customers or contractors in the field with questions about our buildings.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you'll do:
* Manages the drawing process with the assistance of an assigned drafting team beginning at customer approval through as-built drawing stages.
* Prepares original layout of building interiors and exteriors based on customer requirements and specifications, including generator set, switch gear motor controls, power control equipment, routing of conduit and electrical wiring, and structural configuration of building.
* Configures electrical systems and wiring, alarm systems and wiring, and environmental control systems.
* Designs mechanical and structural systems for assigned projects.
* Specifies components and purchased parts.
* Prepares AutoCAD drawings as necessary.
* Enter and maintain current project information in the Engineering Database.
* Responsible for meeting established schedule and deadlines for his/her projects.
* Assists project management personnel and answers questions related to projects.
* Interacts with production personnel and answers questions related to project design and execution.
* Interact with customers and outside engineering/architectural firms to answer questions and develop appropriate building configurations.
* Communicates with and coordinates work performed by outside sub-contractors.
* Assists Quality Control on minor quality issues.
* Works with Code Compliance Manager to submit the required state approval design documentation to the states according to their requirements.
* Monitors equipment installation requirements.
* Interfaces with other Engineers and Designers for building design decisions.
* Travels to meet with customers, providing technical support for business development and project management (less than 20 days per year).
* Additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar technical discipline) from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Three or more years of experience as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer working in a manufacturing environment.
* Familiar with the content of the National Electric Code and other national and local Electrical and Building Codes.
* Experience in power generation/distribution industry.
* Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software;
Solid works preferred.
Skills:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to employees, management, and clients.
* Must be able to work as a team player and follow direction.
* Highly motivated, Strong planning, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Must be organized and possess an ability to handle multiple projects.
