About the RoleThe Multi‑Craft Maintenance Technician will be located onsite in Minden, LA and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. This role is needed for a PSM and DoD regulated energetic materials and explosives manufacturing operation supporting defense and aerospace customers. You will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Essential Functions- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of primarily mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, gearboxes, pumps, and production machinery
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems up to 480 V, including motors, starters, VFDs, and field wiring, supporting safe and reliable equipment operation
- Support basic controls and PLC troubleshooting with guidance, including identifying faults, assisting with I/O checks, and coordinating with external controls resources
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities generated from the CMMS, ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing unplanned downtime
- Install, align, and commission new equipment and components, ensuring proper mechanical integrity and integration with existing systems
- Maintain and repair facility utilities and infrastructure, including compressed air, HVAC, boilers, plumbing, and general building systems
- Follow and enforce all safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out, explosive‑handling protocols, and PPE requirements in a high‑hazard environment
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues in real time, including working on equipment during active operations when required
- High school diploma or equivalent with 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance OR an Associate’s degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or related field with 7 years of experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, including rotating equipment, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic and production machinery
- Working knowledge of electrical systems up to 480 V, including motors, starters, VFDs, and ability to run conduit and wiring
- Basic understanding of PLCs and control systems, including ability to assist with troubleshooting, I/O checks, and work with external controls support
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
- Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance using a CMMS and maintaining accurate maintenance records
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently or in a team within a fast‑paced, high‑hazard manufacturing environment
- Experience in explosives, energetic materials, or other high‑hazard manufacturing environments (e.g., chemical or refining)
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic programming (e.g., Allen‑Bradley or Siemens)
- Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 lb
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods in an outdoor industrial environment
- Ability to work in a high‑hazard explosive manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and explosives
- Ability to wear required PPE, including flame‑resistant clothing and other safety equipment, and comply with site‑specific requirements such as end‑of‑day showering
- Ability to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses
