Mid-Level Audio-Visual Technician

High-End Residential AV Integration | Nassau County, NY and the NYC Metro Area | Full-Time

Our client is an established high-end residential audio-video integration firm specializing in custom home theaters, whole-home automation and smart home systems. The Mid-Level Audio-Visual Technician works alongside the lead technician on installations in high-end homes. This is a hands-on position for someone with a few solid years of field experience who wants to take on more responsibility. The position is based out of Nassau County and works at client residences throughout the metro area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform prewire, rough-in, cable terminations and rack fabrication on high-end residential projects.
  • Install televisions, projectors, speakers, touch panels, keypads and motorized shades to a finish-quality standard.
  • Set up and configure networks, switches and IP-based devices supporting the AV systems.
  • Assist the lead technician with equipment configuration and system checkout.
  • Work from wiring diagrams, floor plans and AV schematics under the direction of the lead technician.
  • Troubleshoot routine installation and connectivity issues and escalate what belongs with the lead technician.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized and safe on active jobsites and in occupied homes.
  • Report progress and open issues to the lead technician or project manager each day.
Qualifications
  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on residential AV installation experience.
  • Solid low-voltage skills including pulling and terminating coax, Cat5/6/7 and fiber, and building racks cleanly.
  • Able to follow AV schematics, floor plans and wiring diagrams.
  • Working familiarity with at least one automation platform such as Savant, Crestron, Control4 or Lutron.
  • Basic networking knowledge.
  • Understands how to work inside a client's home and keeps a clean, protected work area.
  • Reliable, on time, and clear in daily communication.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Compensation is competitive and set to the candidate's experience, and this is a full-time position on the company payroll.
