Job duration is 3 months with the potential to be extended to 6 months. Schedule will be Mon‑Thur 8a‑6p.
Our
*** Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Design Drafter to create and maintain detailed design data and drawings that fully document air vehicle avionics systems. In this role you’ll work closely with design and systems engineering teams to refine avionics layouts and interfaces, ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations and standards, and verify designs satisfy customer requirements and deliverables.
You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule at our business unit,

*** Avionics delivers customer‑focused technologies and customized solutions for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation industries.
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings and CAD models in Solid Works from sketches, specifications, and 3D data to support completion of wiring diagrams and schematics as well as part, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace drawing and quality standards, including AS9100, ASME Y14.5 (GD&T), and company drafting conventions.
- Ensure design data follows aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Maintain drawing templates, title blocks, and other tools specific to aerospace CAD projects.
- Work closely with engineers to clarify design intent, resolve fit/form/function issues, and incorporate feedback from drawing reviews.
- Create and maintain revision‑controlled drawing packages in a PDM/PLM system.
- Support BOM creation and parts lists, including standard parts and vendor‑sourced hardware with correct part numbers and specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and support certification activities to minimize rework and non‑conformances.
- Maintain timely completion of assigned projects and deliverables.
- Ten or more years of related design experience supported by a minimum of a two‑year degree in drafting, CAD technology, electrical or mechanical engineering/engineering technology, or similar degree.
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical input and develop incomplete requirements into full design packages.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, drafting standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of aerospace design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
- Vendor coordination for dimensional and functional specifications.
- Presenting design results and substantiating assumptions, constraints, and analyses.
