Role: Senior Design Drafter
Location: Mineral Wells, TX
Duration: 3 Months with possibility of extension
Schedule: Mon - Thu, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (40 hrs)
OverviewJoin the Military Aircraft Group as a Senior Design Drafter, where you will create and maintain detailed design data and drawings for air vehicle avionics systems. Collaborate closely with design and systems engineering teams to ensure compliance with federal regulations and customer requirements.
Responsibilities- Produce detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings and CAD models in Solid Works from sketches, specifications, and 3D data to support completion of wiring diagrams and schematics as well as part, assembly, and installation drawings.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace drawing and quality standards, including AS9100, ASME Y14.5 (GD&T), and company drafting conventions.
- Ensure design data follows aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Maintain drawing templates, title blocks, and other tools specific to aerospace CAD projects.
- Work closely with engineers to clarify design intent, resolve fit/form/function issues, and incorporate feedback from drawing reviews.
- Create and maintain revision-controlled drawing packages in a PDM/PLM system.
- Support BOM creation and parts lists, including standard parts and vendor-sourced hardware with correct part numbers and specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and support certification activities to minimize rework and non-conformances.
- Maintain timely completion of assigned projects and deliverables.
- Ten or more years of related design experience supported by at least a two-year degree in drafting, CAD technology, electrical or mechanical engineering/engineering technology, or a similar degree.
- Ability to work independently with minimal technical input and develop incomplete requirements into full design packages.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, drafting standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of aerospace design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Additional skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience- Vendor coordination for dimensional and functional specifications.
- Presenting design results and substantiating assumptions, constraints, and analyses.
