About the Role:

The Maintenance Mechanic II plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of healthcare facility equipment and infrastructure. This position involves performing skilled mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and equipment. The role requires a proactive approach to preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and support a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

The role also includes drywall repair, tape, texture, and painting inside and outside the hospital. The Maintenance Mechanic II collaborates closely with facility management and clinical teams to prioritize and address maintenance needs promptly. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall mission of delivering high-quality healthcare by maintaining a reliable and compliant physical environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or similar regulated environment
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safety protocols
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license, clear driving record and proof of liability insurance
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Maintenance Mechanic or HVAC Technician
  • Current boiler operator’s license as required by the state or applicable authorities having jurisdiction preferred
  • Familiarity with medical gas systems and healthcare facility codes
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on mechanical systems such as HVAC units, boilers, pumps, and medical gas systems to ensure optimal functionality
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and implement effective repairs using appropriate tools and techniques to minimize equipment downtime
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and document findings to support compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards
  • Collaborate with facility management to schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to healthcare operations
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, parts inventory, and service requests
  • Respond promptly to urgent repair requests, prioritizing tasks based on impact to patient care and facility operations
  • Assist in training junior maintenance staff and support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department

The Maintenance Mechanic II utilizes strong mechanical troubleshooting skills daily to identify and resolve equipment issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to healthcare services. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with clinical and facility teams to prioritize maintenance tasks and explain technical information clearly. Work Schedule

Days M-F 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Will participate in on-call rotation. FT position. 1.0 FTE that is eligible for overtime and shift differentials, if applicable.
