We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager to join a growing finance team in a scaling manufacturing and government-contracting environment. This role is responsible for the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial reporting and technical accounting, with a strong focus on government accounting, internal controls, and month-end close leadership
. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and federal reporting
, along with proven management experience and the ability to operate hands-on in a fast-paced organization.

Key Responsibilities Technical Accounting & Compliance
  • Research and apply advanced accounting standards including US GAAP, FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations), and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards)
  • Prepare technical accounting memos for transactions such as indirect cost allocations, contract modifications, and revenue recognition
  • Monitor and implement changes in federal regulations and accounting standards
  • Support accounting for government-specific transactions, including incurred cost submissions, allowable/unallowable cost determinations, and contract closeouts
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and identify/report deviations
  • Develop and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and federal compliance
Financial Reporting & Close Management
  • Own the General Ledger and Balance Sheet to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Lead the month-end close process, including cash, receivables, payables, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and audit-ready schedules
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial reports
  • Ensure expenses and revenues are properly coded and compliant with internal and external requirements
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packages and supporting schedules
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with external auditors and manage annual audit processes
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation
Government Contract Accounting
  • Manage indirect rate structures and monitor cost pools for CAS compliance
  • Supervise billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocation under government contracts
  • Prepare audit-ready documentation for DCAA, DCMA, and other regulatory bodies
  • Support incurred cost submissions and regulatory exams
Leadership & Process Improvement
  • Provide daily management and guidance to accounting staff
  • Identify and implement process improvements in partnership with accounting leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support business decisions
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, with significant exposure to government contracting and technical accounting
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience leading month-end close and internal financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and federal cost principles
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar preferred)
  • Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, scaling environment
  • High integrity and discretion handling sensitive financial data
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $145,000 – $165,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
