Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid located in Minnesota, only local candidates will be eligible)
Pay Rate: $55,000-$65,000 / Year dependent on applicable experience

We’re supporting a Minneapolis-based organization in their search for an Accounting Assistant to join a collaborative accounting team. This role is primarily focused on accounts receivable, collections, and cash applications, with additional responsibility supporting accounts payable and general accounting functions.
What you’ll be doing :- Own day-to-day accounts receivable operations
, including customer invoicing, cash applications (ACH, wire, check, lockbox), and account maintenance - Apply and reconcile high-volume customer payments, ensuring timely and accurate posting
- Perform collections outreach on past-due balances while maintaining strong customer relationships and professionalism
- Research and resolve short pays, deductions, unapplied cash, and payment discrepancies
- Reconcile AR aging reports and partner with sales, customer service, and operations to resolve billing or payment issues
- Support month-end close related to AR, including reconciliations and reporting
- Process accounts payable transactions
, including invoice entry, coding to the general ledger, and routing for approvals - Perform vendor statement reconciliations and resolve invoice discrepancies or payment inquiries
- Assist with weekly and monthly payment runs (ACH, check, wire)
- Support AP accruals and provide documentation for audits or internal review
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation across both AR and AP functions
- 2+ years of hands‑on accounting experience with a strong focus on AR, cash applications, and collections
- Working knowledge of AP processes
- Experience in a high‑volume, deadline-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to research and resolve discrepancies
- ERP system experience and Excel skills (Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP exposure preferred)
- Ability to work hybrid in the Minneapolis area
