Senior Accountant (CPA Required)
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Compensation: $145,000–$165,000 base + equity

Why This Role Is Exciting

This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned accounting leader to step into a scaling manufacturing organization with government contracts and play a key role in strengthening financial infrastructure during a critical growth phase. As Senior Accounting Manager, you’ll own technical accounting, compliance, and close leadership—working closely with leadership to ensure accuracy, audit readiness, and strong internal controls.

If you enjoy combining hands‑on accounting leadership with regulatory complexity (US GAAP, FAR, CAS) in a fast‑moving environment, this role offers visibility, ownership, and long‑term growth.

What You’ll Be Responsible For Technical Accounting & Compliance
  • Research, interpret, and apply US GAAP, FAR, and CAS to complex accounting matters
  • Prepare technical accounting memos related to indirect cost allocations, contract changes, and revenue recognition
  • Monitor evolving federal regulations and accounting standards and lead implementation efforts
  • Support government-specific accounting activities, including incurred cost submissions, allowable/unallowable cost analysis, and contract closeouts
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and proactively identify/report deviations
  • Design, maintain, and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and government compliance
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Own the General Ledger and Balance Sheet, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Lead the month‑end close process, including cash, AR/AP, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and audit‑ready schedules
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly reporting packages
  • Ensure expenses and revenues are coded accurately and in compliance with internal policies and external regulations
  • Prepare monthly management reports, schedules, and variance analyses
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Partner with external auditors and manage annual audit processes
  • Maintain organized, compliant financial documentation and records
Government Contract Accounting
  • Manage indirect rate structures and monitor cost pools to ensure CAS compliance
  • Oversee billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocation for government contracts
  • Prepare and maintain audit‑ready documentation for DCAA, DCMA, and other oversight bodies
  • Support regulatory exams and incurred cost submissions
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership, guidance, and mentorship to accounting staff
  • Identify and implement process improvements in collaboration with accounting leadership
  • Partner cross‑functionally with operations, finance, and executive teams
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights to support informed business decisions
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including government contracting and technical accounting
  • Public accounting background strongly preferred
  • Proven ownership of month‑end close and internal financial reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and federal cost principles
  • ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and analytical
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced, scaling environment
  • High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $145,000–$165,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Equity participation through stock options
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Mental health benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
