Accountant​/Senior Accountant

Overview

Location: Bloomington

Compensation: $70,000–$85,000

Our client is a well-established, privately held organization with a long history of operational excellence and steady growth across the Midwest. They are seeking an Accountant/Senior Accountant to join their collaborative accounting team. This role is ideal for an experienced staff accountant who enjoys owning the month-end close process, working directly in the general ledger, and improving accounting processes. • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Perform account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal reporting
• Manage and support cash activity, including banking transactions and reconciliations
• Apply GAAP to routine and moderately complex transactions (accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, etc.)
• Help maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and business leaders
• Support internal and external audits

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2–6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands-on general ledger and month-end close experience
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems
• CPA (or pursuing) a plus
