Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid - in office Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Vertical Insure is the leading embedded insurance platform built for vertical SaaS platforms. We offer customized insurance options tailored to each business and its customers, adding value and generating new revenue without extra overhead. Our approach is simple; we are removing the burden from buying insurance by embedding it into our partners’ existing product flow making financial protection effortless and timely.

We’re looking for a Accountant/Senior Accountant (depending on experience level) who will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, managing Accounts Payable, and assisting in the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial data. This role will report directly to the CFO.

Our Minneapolis office operates on a hybrid model, with in-office collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At this time, we’re only considering local candidates.

The Accountant/Senior Accountant will ensure our financial foundation is strong, you will own the details while also enabling smarter decision making across the business. You’ll work closely with the CFO and cross-functional partners to bring clarity to our financials, support compliance, and help build scalable accounting processes that grow with the company.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform month end close and prepare, accurate financial statements
  • Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and cash-related analysis
  • Assist with quarterly and annual close activities, including audit support
  • Maintain corporate registrations and compliance requirements

Financial Analysis & Decision Support

  • Prepare financial reports to support business decisions
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Support ad-hoc analysis and creation of KPIs and other drivers of the business
  • Analyze trends and variances to provide actionable insights

Accounts Payable

  • Process all vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding and approvals
  • Setup and maintain vendor records and resolve discrepancies
  • Reconcile AP subledger to the general ledger
  • Maintain organized supporting documentation to support internal and external review

Who You Are

  • 2-4 years of experience for Accountant, 5-7 years of experience for Sr. Accountant
  • Experience in a fast growing startup environment a strong plus
  • Proven experience owning Accounts Payable and general ledger accounting
  • Advanced understanding of Quickbooks Online
  • Strong technical skills in Excel, data analysis and other systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with in-person collaboration

Experience That Goes the Extra Mile

  • Familiarity with SQL or a willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated ability to create and improve processes
  • Experience working with Hub Spot or similar CRM platforms
  • Background in fintech, insurance, or vertical SaaS industries

What We Offer:

The estimated base salary for this role is: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, life insurance, flexible PTO, 401(k), and more.
