Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a services organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is well suited for an early-career accounting team member who wants to strengthen their foundation across core financial operations while contributing to a collaborative team. In this role, you will support day-to-day accounting activities, help maintain accurate financial records, and gain hands-on exposure to multiple transactional and general accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

- Support routine accounting operations by preparing journal entries and assisting with the accuracy of financial data recorded in the general ledger.

- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to help ensure balances are complete, accurate, and properly documented.

- Partner with billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable teams to help process transactions and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

- Assist with cash activity tracking and fixed asset record maintenance to support organized and reliable accounting records.

- Use accounting systems and spreadsheets to enter, review, and validate financial information across daily workflows.

- Contribute to month-end accounting tasks by gathering support, updating records, and following established procedures.

- Communicate with internal stakeholders to clarify transaction details and maintain smooth coordination across accounting processes. Requirements - Working knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including debits and credits.

- Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, or general accounting activities.

- Ability to complete account reconciliations with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Proficiency with accounting software such as Quick Books and Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).

- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for tracking, organizing, and reviewing financial information.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage routine responsibilities and meet deadlines.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams.
