We specialize in Commercial Siding (ACM Metal Panels, single skin panels, Nichiha and similar products along with sun shades, awnings, etc) projects, delivering high-quality results through strong project management and execution. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Construction Controller to lead our financial operations and support strategic decision-making.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a hands-on Construction Controller to oversee all accounting and financial activities. This role is critical for maintaining the financial health of the company, ensuring accurate job costing, managing cash flow, and providing timely financial insights to support project profitability and business growth. The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience and thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
This position reports directly to the President/Owner (or CFO if applicable) and may supervise accounting staff.
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage construction-specific financial processes: AIA billing and pay applications, job costing, change orders, lien waivers, and revenue recognition (e.g., percentage-of-completion or ASC 606).
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses; monitor project costs against budgets and provide variance reports.
- Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules and job profitability reports.
- Monitor cash flow, manage treasury functions, and prepare cash flow projections tied to project cycles.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to provide financial analysis for bids, change orders, and project performance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, bonding/surety requirements, and industry-specific standards.
- Implement and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors, CPAs, banks, and insurance providers as needed.
- Support financial aspects of business development, including budgeting and profitability analysis.
- Lead or support ERP/system improvements and process efficiencies (e.g., construction accounting software).
- Supervise and develop accounting team members (as applicable for company size).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in construction accounting or a related industry (essential).
- Strong understanding of construction financial practices, including job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and AIA billing.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, Foundation, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, tax compliance, and bonding requirements for construction firms.
- Proven ability to work independently in a small‑company environment while collaborating across teams.
- High integrity, attention to detail, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.
