Accounting Manager

Our client is a company in the Minneapolis area looking for an Accounting Manager. Our client is looking for someone with 4+ years of accounting experience, SOX and public controls experience, and strong leadership skills.

The salary range for this position is $100k-160k.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and career development initiatives.
• Establish department goals, performance metrics, and productivity standards.
• Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.
• Allocate workload and resources to meet deadlines and organizational priorities.
• Financial Reporting & General Accounting Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger transactions and account reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses.
• Support management with financial reporting and accounting insights.
• Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit Management Maintain and strengthen internal control processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee compliance with SOX requirements and related documentation.
• Serve as a primary contact for internal and external auditors.
• Coordinate audit requests, testing activities, and remediation efforts as needed.
• Monitor accounting processes to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Evaluate accounting procedures and identify opportunities for increased efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Lead process improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices.
• Assist with system enhancements, workflow automation, and reporting improvements.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Cross-Functional Support & Special Projects Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to support organizational initiatives.
• Provide accounting guidance and technical expertise on business transactions.
• Participate in special projects, system implementations, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities when needed.

The Accounting Manager will possess the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience.
• SOX and public controls experience.
• Strong leadership skills/experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• CPA certification preferred
