THE RIGHT STAFF is partnering with a respected Minneapolis law firm to recruit a Billing Manager to oversee the firm's billing operations and supervise the Billing Coordinator team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex billing challenges, and is committed to delivering exceptional service to both internal and external clients.
ESSENTIAL
JOB DUTIES:
Lead, supervise, train, and develop the Billing Coordinator team while managing workload distribution, performance feedback, and staffing coverage.
Manage billing operations, including electronic billing, invoice submissions, client and matter setup, rate approvals, invoice corrections, appeals, and collections follow-up.
Respond to billing-related inquiries through the firm's internal ticketing system and ensure timely resolution.
Maintain client and matter information in billing systems to ensure compliance with Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCG).Coordinate recurring and ad hoc billing reports, payment reporting, and billing statistics.
Support implementation, testing, maintenance, and administration of billing software and system enhancements.
Participate in month-end and year-end billing activities, including proforma runs, rate reviews, and billing deadlines.
Review and update detailed billing reports, partner with attorneys on invoice preparation, and distribute final client invoices.
Prepare and process non-system client bills and approved accounts receivable write-offs.
Collaborate with attorneys and administrative departments to resolve billing issues and improve operational efficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years of billing, legal billing, or related accounting experience.
Experience with legal e-billing platforms and Elite 3E or Aderant Expert/Sierra software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, 5+ years of legal billing experience, supervisory experience, and knowledge of Paperless Proforma, Bill Blast/eBilling
Hub, or Oddr are preferred.
POSITION BENEFITS, PAY, AND
SCHEDULE:
Direct-hire, full-time onsite opportunity in a professional office environment.
Competitive annual salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000, depending on experience.
Occasional overtime may be required to meet business and month-end/year-end deadlines.
Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (4 days onsite, 1 day remote after training)
