CAAS - Controller; State & Local Government Industry

Position Overview

A Controller with experience in State & Local Government is required to serve as the primary finance lead for assigned clients within the Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) group.

• Act as the Controller for designated clients.
• Provide consulting and advisory services on accounting and finance best practices.
• Manage multiple client projects, work assignments, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements, offering recommendations.
• Build opportunities for clients, communities, and internal teams.
• Attend industry events and training to stay current as an industry professional.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal and state directives, and current accounting standards.

• 6+ years of relevant accounting or financial experience.
• Experience in State & Local Government is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent education, training, and experience).
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Proficient knowledge of accounting software packages.
• Strong understanding of accounting technical issues related to the industry.

• Maintain knowledge of client organizational policies, federal and state directives, and current accounting standards.
• Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of accounting software packages.
• Maintain accounting technical knowledge related to the industry.

Primarily in‑office work with frequent local travel to client sites; occasional non‑local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings, and business‑related purposes.
