Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000

About the Opportunity - Resident Accountant
A growing property management organization is seeking a detail-oriented Resident Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse residential property portfolio. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys managing property financials, collaborating with internal teams, and ensuring accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment. The Resident Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting business performance across multiple communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Resident Accountant
- Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements for assigned residential properties.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and tenant/resident ledgers.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Analyze property operating expenses, budgets, and variances.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Review rent rolls, occupancy reports, and property-level financial performance.
- Collaborate with property managers and operational teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and property management regulations.
- Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
Qualifications
- Resident Accountant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within property management, real estate, multifamily housing, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with property management or accounting software preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of property management accounting concepts, including tenant receivables and property budgets, is highly preferred.
- CPA track, CPA designation, or advanced accounting certifications are a plus.
