Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations for a hospitality organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Contract position is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of experience who can contribute to day-to-day financial activities, maintain accurate records, and help ensure tax-related compliance. The role offers an opportunity to work across core accounting functions while supporting reliable financial reporting and ledger integrity.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial data accurate and current.

- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

- Support corporate tax activities, including gathering documentation and assisting with return preparation.

- Manage sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, calculating obligations, and helping ensure timely filings.

- Assist with month-end and periodic close tasks to support complete and accurate financial reporting.

- Review accounting records for consistency and compliance with internal policies and established standards.

- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to research issues and provide accounting support as needed. Requirements - At least 1 year of experience in accounting or a related finance role.

- Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

- Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and experience supporting tax return preparation.

- Understanding of sales tax processes and related compliance requirements.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.

- Proficiency in standard accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
