Job Summary
Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 annual base salary
Reports To: AP/AR Accounting Manager
Work Location: LaSalle Plaza – Downtown Minneapolis, on-site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am – 5pm (occasional early mornings, evenings, or special events as needed)
Hempel Real Estate is a commercial real estate firm that specializes in new and adaptive re‑use projects. This role seeks a highly detail‑oriented AP & AR Specialist responsible for processing invoices, collecting payments, maintaining financial records, and supporting overall cash flow and financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities- Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and timely
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents
- Assist with the weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
- Monitor accounts for incoming payments and apply payments accurately
- Assist with the reconciliation of customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain accurate aging reports and communicate status to management
- Assist with month‑end close activities (e.g., reconciliations, accruals, reporting)
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Support audits by providing requested documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., property management, operations, HR, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices
- Proficiency in accounting software (Real Page experience preferred)
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem‑solving skills
- 2+ years of AP/AR or general accounting experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Real Page or similar accounting software
- Experience with commercial real estate accounting
- Highly dependable, resourceful, and team‑oriented
- Ability to travel occasionally for team events and meetings or collaboration
- Exceptionally self‑motivated with the ability to work autonomously
- Proactive communicator across email, verbal, and instant messaging
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
