Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a hospitality organization on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage core financial activities with accuracy while supporting tax-related processes and day-to-day ledger operations. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to reliable reporting, maintain organized records, and help ensure compliance across essential accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and record journal entries to support accurate monthly and periodic financial reporting.

- Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring proper classification of transactions.

- Assist with corporate tax matters, including supporting documentation and coordination related to corporate tax return preparation.

- Manage sales tax processes by reviewing taxable activity, calculating obligations, and helping ensure timely filings.

- Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts to confirm the completeness and accuracy of financial data.

- Support month-end and year-end close activities by organizing records, validating entries, and following established deadlines.

- Work with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for reporting, tax compliance, and audit support.

- Help strengthen accounting accuracy by identifying issues, researching variances, and recommending practical corrections. Requirements - Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with responsibility for general ledger activity.

- Working knowledge of corporate tax concepts and exposure to corporate tax return support activities.

- Familiarity with sales tax review, calculation, and filing requirements.

- Strong ability to prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.

- Understanding of core accounting principles and financial reporting processes.

- Proficiency in organizing financial records and managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
