State & Local Tax Manager

Our client is a well-established Top 50 accounting firm with a dedicated State and Local Tax practice that serves clients across manufacturing, retail, distribution, and professional services. The Minneapolis SALT group has experienced significant growth due to increased client demand following the South Dakota v. Wayfair ruling and ongoing multistate nexus complexity.

As SALT Manager you will lead income and franchise tax compliance and advisory work, conduct nexus studies, advise on apportionment methodology, manage voluntary disclosure agreements and amnesty filings, and oversee sales and use tax compliance and audit defense for a portfolio of 30–40 clients.

The firm offers a highly collaborative specialty tax environment, strong technical training, and clear advancement opportunities into a Director or SALT Practice Leader role.

• CPA required; CMI or MST a plus
• 6+ years of SALT experience in public accounting or a state tax consulting environment
• Strong knowledge of multistate income tax apportionment, nexus rules, and sales and use tax
• Experience managing VDA filings and state tax audit defense
• Vertex, Avalara, or similar indirect tax software experience preferred
