OverviewThis position is part of the Arboretum Education Registrar work team and assists the team in accomplishing goals in a multi-faceted work environment. The office assistant must interact professionally and positively with the public via phone, email, and in person, and be able to juggle multiple tasks.
ScheduleRegular work hours are three weekdays per week, seven hours per day, typically 8:30 am – 4:00 pm on site at the UMN Arboretum in Chanhassen, MN. Days are Monday and Thursday with the third day to be determined, preferably Tuesday or Wednesday. Occasional coverage of office staff when absent or during peak times is required.
Responsibilities- Act as the first point of contact via phone, email, and in person at the Arboretum Learning Center Education Office.
- Assist office staff with all functions related to Adult Education and Youth Education programs, including phone, in‑person, and online class registrations.
- Enter new programming information into both the Adult Education and Youth Education software.
- Create weekly reports.
- Perform other office tasks and projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED and one year of general office experience (training/education may substitute). Customer service experience.
- Proficiency with Google Apps (Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc.).
- Experience working as a member of a team.
- Two years of office experience and/or training beyond high school.
- Two years of customer service experience.
- Experience working with registration software.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Documented organizational skills.
Pay Range: $22.39 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
Time Appointment: 52% appointment, 21 hours per week.
Position Type: Civil‑Service & Non‑Faculty Labor Represented Staff.
