SummaryUnder general supervision, assists with maintaining specialized relational database systems of Student Information System (SIS) software applications; maintains SIS electronic files, updates the SIS databases, and provides customer service for users.
The Student Information Specialist manages family enrollment, scheduling, and billing for Minneapolis Kids childcare programs using the Arux platform, including processing registrations, waitlists, and family inquiries. This role supports program leadership with communications, coordinates quarterly newsletters and registration outreach, and maintains accurate records across multiple sites. The position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment and provides reliable, year-round support to families and programs.

- Assists with maintaining Student Information System (SIS) database; works with state and MPS databases and proprietary software applications.
- Performs work within scope of authority and training; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Reviews and processes SIS forms and technical documents, and updates the database.
- Compiles data on assigned programs, and compares to data from other SIS reports.
- Disseminates program information as authorized, and coordinates information with other MPS departments.
- Works with District staff to review data and resolve database and data entry issues.
- Monitors schools for compliance with data entry and submittal standards; tracks data transfers and validates data accuracy.
- Completes special projects to utilize SIS information, and coordinate with other education information programs; provides SIS data to MPS departments and outside agencies within scope of authority.
- Provides administrative and technical support; answers user questions on access, security, and processes.
- Assists with training for MPS staff on SIS data management issues.
- Provides technical advice and assists with customer service issues.
- Maintains all aspects of security and confidentiality of records and information.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
- Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
- At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
